Amanda grew up in another denomination (i.e. evangelical in nature) and now deeply loves the Lutheran church, with its message of grace, space for questions, and deep theological history. Amanda joins the Church Anew team with much joy and plans for helping create sustainable, helpful systems that alleviate stress for Pastor Matthew and our wonderful contributors! 

Amanda has a wide variety of work experience that has led her to this new work. Before graduating from Luther Seminary with a MA in Bible, she barely survived teaching middle school English (seriously, it was hard stuff, but really good also) for four years. She spent 11 years helping lead a thriving ELCA campus ministry with her spouse (they worked surprisingly well together!), and most recently worked at ELCA Churchwide leading the strategy for engaging and accompanying congregations with making generous donations to the ministries of the larger church.

You can expect to find Amanda listening to music or podcasts, hanging out with her two college aged daughters and spouse, and having serious talks with her two pups, Martin Luther and Nicholas Buttersnaps. She also knows an extraordinary amount of detail about the show Bob’s Burgers.
