A Coaching Cohort for Congregations and Leaders Ready to Flourish

Rooted to flourish

ABOUT RENEWING REFORMATION

There is a profound connection between the wellbeing of congregational leaders and the vitality of their congregations. Just as trees in a forest rely on a complex, unseen network for nourishment, leaders and congregations are strengthened by deep-rooted relationships and systems of support.

Church Anew’s Renewing Reformation: Igniting Communities of Faith nurtures these connections, fostering congregations and clergy that thrive together.

This coaching cohort meets leaders and congregations at the root of their identity, belonging, and purpose, empowering them to grow in collaboration, resilience, and abundance. Because, when we get down to the roots, we remember that there is enough for everyone to have enough.

What we do…

For Clergy

Clergy involved in this cohort often experience seasons of weariness or isolation in their pastoral roles. With the guidance of an experienced coach and a network of specialists, clergy gain clarity, support, and resources tailored to their ministry context. Coaches help them rediscover joy, purpose, and the courage to lead in new, innovative ways.

For Congregations

Congregations are seeking clarity and direction as they navigate cultural shifts and resource challenges. This program helps them lean into their identity, practice vulnerability, and courageously explore new possibilities for ministry. Together, they will cultivate healthier governance, deeper community ties, and a shared vision of abundant ministry.

About the Coaches

The coaches are parish pastors themselves, peer colleagues who accompany, bear witness, ask powerful questions, and honor the wisdom that already lives in the local pastor and their context. The pastors’ agency is centered throughout the program, the catalyst for discerning new relationships and resources to help their ministry thrive.

What do we do?

Coaching Pairs journey together for 12 months, which includes monthly coaching sessions, quarterly site visits, and access to Church Anew resources and a network of consultants with business and ministry specialties. At the end of the program, pastors (together with their church council’s support) are invited to apply for a sub-grant to help their congregation thrive long term.

Details

  • A Thriving Congregations grant from the Lilly Foundation covers the costs of this program.

  • Pastors applying should have the full support of their congregational council.

  • Renewing Reformation Coaches also receive coaching themselves throughout the year.

“This is not about making more or different work for pastors and their congregations. Renewing Reformation recognizes the wisdom and encourages the dreams already at work in the pastor and their congregation. For twelve months, we come along, bearing witness and making more connections so they can do the work to which they are called and be who they already are.”

- Rev. Meta Herrick Carlson, Lead Coach
