Why shift our thinking to heaven when there is so much work we can do in this life to promote inclusion and break down barriers? If we work to create a more accessible world, less people would feel like they need to be healed.

This is the first blog in a series originating from a writing course led by Ellie Roscher, centering on the sacred ordinary. The authors read and wrote essays designed to make ordinary moments shine, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share these essays with the Church Anew audience.

So, from the vantage point of the wheelchair, I learned a few lessons that I hope will be helpful to others. The lessons start with a full assessment of a church campus, and an open invitation to the congregation and persons who visit the campus regularly to offer ideas about how the campus can truly serve all of God’s people.
