Past Conferences

Canoeing the Mountains
January 2019
Keynote Speaker, Tod Boslinger, author of Canoeing the Mountains: Christian Leadership in Uncharted Territory and Vice President for Vocation and Formation at Fuller Seminary, led us through a series of conversations about sustainable transformation in congregational context. We heard from local leaders who are working adaptive change in rural, urban, and suburban contexts about signs of promise and hope in the local congregations. In workshop and facilitated conversation, we explored ways to seek adaptive change in our own contexts.

Preaching in Series Workshop
June 2018
Keynote Speaker, Lilian Daniel, author of Tired of Apologizing for a Church I Don’t Belong To and When Spiritual But Not Religious Is Not Enough, helped us imagine Sunday worship services as a time to engage people in the vital education of Christian community. Practicing preachers shared insights on designing sermon series and led workshops on topics that equipped people to develop their own series. Facilitated conversation and imagining helped develop a working list of preaching topics and ways to engage the worshiping community in this work. Further keynote presentations from Dr. Karoline Lewis helped us ground our proclamation in biblical narrative and Jeff Peterson, VP of Marketing for Jostens, gave us marketing tools to tell the stories of our congregations and ultimately the gospel story that compels us all.
